2,724 U.S. Monster Cloud Credentials Stolen & Leaked
In October 2023, security analysts discovered a stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel containing 2,724 compromised records linked to Monster Cloud Free 4, a cloud service used primarilly by accounts based in the United States. The log was uploaded by an anonymous Telegram user on October 17, 2023, and contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and associated URLs harvested directly from infected endpoints. Unlike a traditional database breach, this data was pulled from real user devices by credential-stealing malware, meaning every record represents a person whose machine was already compromised. The exposure of plaintext passwords makes these credentials immediatly usable by anyone who downloads the file.
Why This Is Dangerous
When attackers get hold of plaintext passwords paired with email addresses, they do not need to crack anything.
