Monster Cloud Free 70: The Highest-Numbered Batch Yet in a Series Far Larger Than First Thought

Initialy, analysis of Monster Cloud's October 2023 activity identified ten free batches (Free 1 through Free 10) released on October 8 and 9. That analysis was incomplete. Monster Cloud Free 70 -- released on October 7, 2023, one day before the Free 1-10 cluster -- establishes that the Monster Cloud series extends to at least 70 batches and likely beyond. At 20,917 US plaintext credentials, Free 70 is also one of the largest individual Monster Cloud batches identified to date. The full scale of Monster Cloud's operations across the October 2023 cluster is now coming into much sharper focus.

October 7 and the Monster Cloud Numbering System

The coexistence of Free 70 (October 7) and Free 1-10 (October 8-9) within the same Monster Cloud series raises an important question about the channel's numbering convention. One interpretation: the numbering reflects overall batch sequence across all Monster Cloud releases regardless of date, meaning batches 1-10 were assigned early in the channel's operational history while later batches received higher numbers as activity continued. Under this interpretation, Free 70 being released on October 7 while Free 1-10 came on October 8 sugests that numbering was assigned retroactively or in a non-chronological fasion. Another interpretation is that different numbered series represent different product lines, geographies, or campaigns running simultaneously under the Monster Cloud brand.

Revising the Monster Cloud Total Upward

Earlier analysis estimated Monster Cloud's total October 2023 output at 105,762 records across Free 1-10. With Free 54, 58, and 70 now confirmed on October 7 alone -- adding 12,018 + 12,258 + 20,917 = 45,193 additional records -- the confirmed total already exceeds 150,000. These three represent only a fraction of the batches between Free 11 and Free 69, the vast majority of which remain to be examined. Monster Cloud's actual October 2023 output likely ran into the hundreds of thousands of records, potentially making it one of the single largest stealer log distribution operations documented for that month.

The Freemium Distribution Machine at Scale

Monster Cloud's multi-batch free distribution strategy -- now confirmed at scale across dozens of numbered batches -- represents an extraordinarily systematic approach to underground market audience-building. Each free release attracts subscribers, establishes credibility, and demonstrates access to fresh infostealer data. The consistency of the approach across 70+ confirmed batches suggests a well-organized, ongoing operation rather than opportunistic one-time credential dumping. The plaintext password format and US-focused targeting indicates a deliberate focus on high-value English-language markets where credential reuse rates and account values are among the highest globally.
