HEROIC analysts monitoring underground Telegram channels in July 2025 uncovered a stealer log package distributed as Moon logs - MoonLogsCloud 452count. The dataset contained 23,897 compromised records from infected endpoints across the United States. Each entry in the log captured an email address, a plaintext password, and the specific URL of the service where that credential was active when the device was compromised. The data surfaced on channels known to facilitate large-scale credential trading.

Why the MoonLogsCloud Leak Is Dangerous

When attackers have the email, the password in cleartext, and the exact URL where it was used, they do not need to guess anything. They have everything required to log in directly. Credential sets like those in the MoonLogsCloud package are used in automated attacks that run thousands of login attempts per hour. Victims typically have no warning until they are locked out of their own accounts or notice fraudulent activity.

What Was Exposed in the Moon Logs MoonLogsCloud Leak

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (services where credentials were captured during device infection)

Why This Matters for Your Security

The data exposed in this stealer log creates cascading risks across every account connected to the compromised email address. Here is how criminals leverage this type of data:

  • Credential stuffing: Login pairs are tested at scale across hundreds of popular websites and apps.
  • Account takeover: Once inside, attackers change email and password to permanently lock the victim out.
  • Identity theft: Email access enables attackers to reset passwords on banking, retail, healthcare, and government accounts.
  • Financial fraud: Payment platform URLs captured in the log give direct access to financial services.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs are produced by infostealer malware, which is a class of malicious software designed to harvest credentials silently. The malware installs itself through phishing emails, fake software installers, cracked games or tools, and malicious browser extensions. It then extracts every saved password from the infected browser, captures active session tokens, and records the URLs associated with each credential. The complete package is sent to the attacker's infrastructure and bundled into log archives for distribution. Victims rarely know their device is infected because the malware runs entirely in the background.
