On January 14, 2025, a data set labeled "UP 232 2.2KK Napoleon Corp" quietly surfaced in a Telegram channel where criminals swap stolen credentials like trading cards. Buried inside were 12,197 individual records pulled straight from infected computers, each one a small window into somebody's digital life.

Why This Is Dangerous

Unlike a typical company data breach where a hacker breaks into one server, this file came from malware that had already been sitting on victims' machines, quietly copying whatever it could find. Because the passwords inside were stored in plaintext, whoever grabbed this file didn't need to crack a single hash. They could just read the logins and start using them imediately.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses linked to real, active accounts
  • Plaintext passwords with no encryption standing in the way
  • URLs showing precisely which sites and services each password opens

Why This Matters

Most people in the United States still reuse the same password across several accounts, wich means one stolen login from this file could unlock a banking app, an email inbox, and a work account all at once. Since the credentials were tied directly to URLs, an attacker doesn't have to guess where to try them.

How Stealer Logs Work

This type of leak starts with malware, often hidden inside a cracked game, a fake software update, or a shady download link. Once it lands on a computer, it scans the browser's saved passwords, autofill data, and open sessions, then bundles everything into a text file and sends it back to whoever is running the malware. That file is what eventually gets sold or dumped on Telegram, like this one.
