HEROIC analysts identified the OmegaCloud_FreeLogs stealer log circulating in private Telegram channels, first posted in January 2024. The dataset contains 10,829 records collected by malware running silently on infected Windows machines. Each record includes an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the site where the credentials were used.

Why This Stealer Log Puts Real Accounts at Immediate Risk

Unlike older breach data that may be years stale, stealer logs capture credentials at the moment they are typed. That means every password in this dataset was valid and actively in use when the malware recorded it. An attacker with this file does not need to crack anything. They can load the email and password pairs directly into automated login tools and begin testing accounts within minutes. Because many people reuse passwords across multiple services, a single comprimised account can unlock email, banking, and social media all at once.

What the OmegaCloud_FreeLogs Dataset Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords (no hashing, no encryption)
  • URLs of the websites where the credentials were entered

The inclusion of target URLs is especially revealing. It shows exactly which services a victim was logged into, making it trivial for attackers to prioritize high-value accounts like banking portals, corporate logins, or email providers.

Why Stealer Log Data Fuels Credential Stuffing Attacks

This type of breach is particularly dangerous because the data arrives ready to use. Credential stuffing attacks rely on automated scripts that test stolen login pairs against dozens of websites simultaneously. A dataset of 10,829 records may seem small, but even a 1 to 2 percent success rate across popular platforms translates to hundreds of accounts taken over. From there, attackers pivot to password resets, financial fraud, and identity theft. The real-world damage from a single stealer log can far exceed what the raw record count suggests.

How Stealer Log Malware Harvests Passwords Without You Knowing

Stealer logs are created by a category of malware designed to harvest credentials silently. The infection typically arrives through a phishing email, a fake software download, or a malicious advertisement. Once installed, the malware monitors browser activity, intercepts form submissions, and reads saved passwords from the browser's local storage. It then packages everything into a structured log file and transmits it to a remote server controlled by the attacker. The victim rarely notices anything wrong. The malware often removes itself after exfiltration to avoid detection. These logs are then sold or shared on Telegram channels and dark web forums, which is exactly how this dataset reached the public.
