Source Type Stealer log
Origin United States
Password Type plaintext

HEROIC identified a stealer log file labeled 52 MyCanal on Telegram containing 49 compromised records tied to the French streaming platform MyCanal. Each record includes an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL where the login was captured, providing a direct pathway into each victim's account.

Why Exposed Plaintext Passwords Are So Harmful

When passwords are leaked in plaintext, there is nothing standing between the attacker and your account. No decryption is needed, no brute force required. The password works immediately. For streaming service users, this can also mean unauthorized charges, changed account settings, and loss of access to purchased content.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses used to register MyCanal streaming accounts
  • Plaintext passwords captured from browser sessions
  • URLs of MyCanal login pages and associated services

A Streaming Password Can Compromise Far More Than Entertainment

People frequently use the same password for their streaming service, their email, and even their bank. Attackers know this. They take credentials from a leak like this one and systematically test them against financial services, cloud storage, and social media platforms. One compromised MyCanal login can cascade into a full digital takeover.

Stealer Logs: How Your Credentials End Up on Telegram

Infostealer malware infects computers through deceptive downloads, phishing emails, or malicious advertisements. Once active, it silently copies every password saved in your browser, grabs session cookies, and records form data. The stolen information is compiled into stealer logs and distributed through underground channels, where anyone can download and exploit them.

Check If Your Credentials Were Exposed

MyCanal subscribers should verify whether their login details appear in this dump. The HEROIC breach scanner searches more than 400 billion compromised records to help you find out if your email and password have been exposed. Checking now gives you the chance to change your credentials before an attacker uses them.
