The OTTOMANCLOUD Leak Exposed 5,712 Accounts in a November 2022 Telegram Stealer Dump
HEROIC analysts detected the OTTOMANCLOUD stealer log when it appeared on a public Telegram channel on November 30, 2022. The file, labeled "30 NOVEMBER 220PCS FREE FRESH OTTOMANCLOUD," contained 5,712 records exfiltrated from compromised endpoints using infostealer malware. Each record included a raw email address, a plaintext password, and URLs identifying the online services the victim was using at the time of compromise. The dataset was distributed freely on Telegram, placing thousands of ready-to-use credentials in the hands of threat actors worldwide within hours of the upload.
Why This Stealer Log Is Especially Dangerous
The OTTOMANCLOUD dump used the word "FREE FRESH" in its title deliberately. In the stealer log marketplace, "fresh" means the credentials were recently stolen and have not yet been widely tested. That means the accounts were likely still active and the passwords unchanged at the time of distribution. Threat actors who recieve fresh logs have a narrow window to exploit them before victims notice unauthorized access or breach notifications prompt password resets. With 5,712 records including plaintext passwords, this log represented thousands of immediately exploitable accounts.
What Was Exposed
- Email Addresses
- Plaintext Passwords
- URLs (targeted service endpoints and API hosts)
Why This Matters
This breach occured in November 2022, but the data remains dangerous today. Stealer logs are archived, repackaged, and resold on underground forums for months and years after the original upload. Any account where the exposed password has not been changed since November 2022 is still at risk. The API host URLs included in each record gave attackers a direct map to the services each victim used, enabling targeted credential stuffing campaigns against specific platforms rather than broad generic attacks. If your credentials were in this log, attackers have had over three years to attempt access to your accounts.
How Stealer Log Attacks Work
Infostealer malware spreads through phishing campaigns, cracked software installers, fake browser updates, and malicious email attachments. Once installed, it runs silently and extracts saved credentials from web browsers, captures keystrokes on active login forms, and harvests session cookies that can be used to bypass multi-factor authentication. The stolen data is bundled into a structured log file and transmitted to an attacker-controlled server. These logs are then labeled with descriptive names like "FREE FRESH OTTOMANCLOUD" and distributed on Telegram channels, where other threat actors can download or purchase them. The seperate stages of infection, collection, and distribution make it difficult for victims to discover the compromise until the data is already circulating widely, which is why a breach from November 2022 may still be affecting accounts today.
