In June 2023, a threat actor on Telegram released a stealer log bundle labeled "248PCS JUN2023 FREE OTTOMANCLOUD," exposing 4,645 records linked to cloud service endpoints. The dump contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs harvested directly from infected machines. Cloud credentails of this kind are among the most valuable assets traded on dark web markets, because a single compromised cloud account can give attackers access to stored files, connected services, and billing information all at once.

Why This Is Dangerous

Cloud account credentials are not like ordinary website passwords. When an attacker obtains access to a cloud platform login, they gain the ability to read and exfiltrate stored data, pivot to connected third-party services, and in many cases rack up fraudulent charges on the account holder's payment method. The stealer malware behind this log recorded credentials in real time from active browser sessions, meaning the data reflects live, working logins at the moment of capture. With passwords exposed in plaintext, there is no technical barrier stopping attackers from attempting immediate account takeover.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (cloud service endpoints and login pages accessed on infected devices)

Why This Matters

The cloud hosting and infrastructure sector is a high-value target precisely because comprimised credentials open doors to far more than a single account. Businesses and individuals who use cloud platforms to store sensitive files, run applications, or manage customer data face cascading consequences when their logins are stolen. This OttomanCloud stealer log, circulating freely on Telegram since June 2023, means those 4,645 sets of credentials have had years to be weaponized, resold, and used in follow-on attacks across the industry.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware infiltrates devices through phishing links, malicious email attatchments, or trojanized software downloads. Once active, it silently scans the infected device for saved browser passwords, active session cookies, and credentials stored in applications. All captured data is packaged into a structured log file and exfiltrated to the attacker's server. These logs are then traded on dark web forums or distributed freely on Telegram channels as a way for threat actors to build credibility. The OttomanCloud dump follows this exact pattern, with the raw log shared publicly to attract attention in underground communities.
