In June 2026, HEROIC analysts spotted a small stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel under the label "Proxy1." Unlike a breach of a company's servers, this file was built from data harvested directly off an infected personal device. It contained a single exposed record pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the login page the credentials belonged to.

Why a Single Exposed Login Still Matters

It is tempting to dismiss a one-record leak as noise. It is not. If that record belongs to you, it means malware sitting on a device you or someone close to you used was able to read a saved password straight out of a browser and ship it to a stranger on Telegram. The password was stored and captured in plaintext, meaning anyone who downloads the file can read it and try it immediately, no cracking or guessing required.

What Was Exposed in the Proxy1 Log

  • An email address used as a login identifier
  • A plaintext password tied to that email
  • The URL of the site or login endpoint the credentials unlock

Why This Matters

A single working email and password combination is often enough for an attacker to attempt credential stuffing, trying that same pair across banking, email, and shopping sites, since so many people reuse passwords. If the password matches one used elsewhere, it can lead directly to account takeover, financial fraud, or identity theft, even though only one record was involved here.

How a File Like "Proxy1" Gets Built

Stealer logs come from information-stealing malware that infects a device, often through a pirated download, fake software crack, or malicious attachment. Once installed, it quietly copies saved passwords, autofill data, and browser session details, then uploads them to the attacker. Small batches like this one are frequently dumped for free on Telegram to build a seller's reputation before larger, paid collections are advertised.

Check If You Are Affected

Even a single leaked credential is worth checking. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches this record against a database of more than 400 billion leaked and stolen records, including stealer logs like this one, so you can find out in seconds if your email or password has surfaced anywhere on the dark web.
