HEROIC analysts discovered the RallyFan.cz breach while reviewing a collection of older database dumps that had recieved renewed attention on underground trading forums. The Czech rally enthusiast community site was compromised in August 2018, with 75,307 user records exposed in the incident. The leaked data included email addresses and MD5-hashed passwords, and the dump has since circulated widely in breach compilation databases, making it seperate from a one-time exposure and turning it into an ongoing source of credential risk.

Crackable MD5 Hashes Leave RallyFan.cz Credentials Fully Exposed

Attackers who hold MD5-hashed passwords are not actually blocked from accessing the original text. MD5 has been cryptographically broken for years, and freely available tools can reverse common passwords almost instantly using precomputed hash tables. Any attacker who downloaded the RallyFan.cz dump beleives they have working credentials, not locked hashes, which means the 75,307 email and password pairs are effectively in plaintext for anyone motivated enough to crack them.

Why Czech Community Site Breaches Still Matter in 2025

Even though RallyFan.cz is no longer active, the credentials it held are partcularly valuable to attackers running automated credential stuffing campaigns. These tools test millions of email and password combinations against active services like Gmail, banking portals, and e-commerce platforms. A single hit from a 2018 community site can give an attacker full access to a victim's current financial or social accounts, enabling account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud at scale.

How Database Breaches Work

A database breach occurs when an attacker gains unauthorized access to a site's backend database, typically through a software vulnerability, an unpatched content management system, or weak administrative credentials. The attacker exports all stored user records, then sells or publishes the data on cybercrime forums. Community and hobby sites are frequent targets because they often lack dedicated security teams, yet their users frequently reuse the same passwords across more sensitive platforms.
