Our Analysts Found the RAZERTOP Stealer Log on a Telegram Channel
HEROIC analysts discovered the RAZERTOP stealer log while scanning public Telegram channels in December 2022. A Telegram user uploaded a log file containing 4,317 records harvested from infected endpoints. Each record included a plaintext password, an email address, and an associated URL, meaning the data required no cracking whatsoever. The log was shared openly, making it immediately accessible to anyone who knew where to look.
Why This Is Dangerous
Unlike typical database breaches where passwords are stored as hashes, stealer logs capture passwords exactly as the user types them. There is no encryption to break, no hashing to reverse. An attacker opening this file sees your real password next to your email and the website it belongs to. With plaintext credentals in hand, account takeover is instant. The URLs in the log also reveal which specific services were targeted, allowing attackers to go straight to those sites and attempt login.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- Associated URLs (website addresses where credentials were used)
Why This Matters
Stealer logs are one of the most dangerous data types in existence because they bypass all traditional security measures. No password manager, no company encryption policy, and no hashing algorithm protects you from malware that reads keystrokes directly off your device. The people affected by the RAZERTOP log may have no idea their machine was compromised. Their accounts on email services, cloud platfroms, and other sites are now open doors. Identity theft, unauthorized transactions, and corporate account breaches are all likely outcomes.
How Stealer Malware Works
Stealer malware, also called an infostealer, is a type of program that secretly installs itself on a computer, usually through a phishing email, a fake software download, or a malicious advertisement. Once running, it scans the browser for saved passwords, captures keystrokes, and harvests login sessions. All of this data is then collected into a log file and sent back to the attacker, or in this case uploaded directy to a Telegram channel. The whole process can happen without the victim ever noticing anything wrong.
