Researchers Traced 10,941 Logins to the 800 PCS January 2024 Free Log
HEROIC resarchers identified 10,941 stolen logins in a Telegram stealer log release called 800 PCS - 24 January - Free Logs, shared in January 2024. The pack contained 800 peices of individual log files totaling nearly 11,000 stolen email addresses, plaintext passwords, and access URLs from US-based victims.
Why the 800 PCS January Free Log Breach Is Dangerous
An 800-piece free log pack shared publicly on Telegram is not a small operation. Each of the 800 files represents one or more infected victim devices. The January 2024 date means this data has been freely available for over two years, giving a large number of people access to nearly 11,000 working credential sets over that time. Free distribution amplifies risk because there is no vetting or payment barrier that limits who can access the data.
What Was Exposed in the 800 PCS January Free Log Leak
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs showing which specific platforms each victim was logged into
Why This 800 PCS January Free Log Data Puts You at Risk
People who were infected in January 2024 and have not changed their passwords since then remain at risk today. The numbred release format suggests this is part of a series, meaning earlier and later packs may also contain some of the same victims. Anyone in this file should immediately change the password shown in the URL field on every other account where that password was reused.
How Stealer Logs Work
Stealer malware targets saved passwords in browsers and applications, then sends the data to a collection server. The output is compiled into log files and released in bulk packs, sometimes containing hundreds of individual files. These packs are then shared freely on Telegram channels to build a following or demonstrate the scale of a criminal operation.
