Not every stealer log makes headlines because of its size. The file called RU_fresh, uploaded to Telegram back on October 31, 2023, held only 125 records, small enough that most people would scroll past a breach notice this short. But each of those 125 lines is a full picture of one person's login habits, and none of them ever got a heads up.

Why This Is Dangerous

A file with 125 entries might sound minor next to leaks with millions of rows, but the danger isn't really about volume. Every single record in RU_fresh includes a plaintext password, wich means whoever downloads this file doesn't need to crack, guess, or brute force anything. The login just works, right out of the box, for as long as the victim hasn't changed it.

What Was Exposed

According to the source data behind this listing, the RU_fresh file included, for each of its 125 records:

  • Email addresses pulled directly from an infected browser or device
  • Plaintext passwords, stored and shared in fully readable form
  • URLs identifying exactly which site or service each password unlocks

Why This Matters

It's easy to assume a small leak isn't worth worrying about, but that logic falls apart the moment it's your own inbox on the list. If any of these 125 people reused a password anywhere else, that one leaked login could open the door to email, banking, or work accounts far beyond the original site. Changing a password after the fact helps, but it's neccessary to do it before someone else finds the file first, not after.

How This Stealer Log Came Together

Files like RU_fresh typically start with a single click, a fake software update, a pirated download, or a link that looked harmless in a message. Once the malware lands on a device, it quietly digs through the browser's stored logins and autofill entries, packages everything it finds, and sends it back to whoever is running the campaign. From there, individual logs get renamed, bundled, and passed around on Telegram, sometimes for a price and sometimes, like this one, for free. The person behind the original device usually has no idea any of this took place until something goes wrong, and they definately won't find out from the attacker.

Check If You Are Affected

With a leak this small, it's tempting to assume you're in the clear, but the only way to know for sure is to check. HEROIC scans a database of over 400 billion leaked records, including stealer logs like RU_fresh, and will tell you in seconds if your email shows up anywhere in the mix. Run the free scan and change any passwords it flags before anyone else gets the chance to use them.
