HEROIC analysts identified this data on September 12, 2024, when a threat actor known as "Satanic" uploaded the final installment of a ten-part credential dump series to BreachForums. The release, titled "Private Satanic 10M ULP Part 2 Sept #10," exposed 3,079,971 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and homepage URLs. This was the tenth and final part of a sustained campaign that began the week prior with a separate set of ten logs from the same actor. For coverage of other parts in this series, see: BreachForums Private Satanic 10M ULP Part 2 Sept #9 by Satanic, BreachForums Private Satanic 10M ULP Part 2 Sept #3 by Satanic, and other parts covered across the site.

The most alarming element of this dump is the presence of plaintext passwords. When passwords are stored or transmitted without encryption, any attacker who obtains the file can immediately use those credentials without any additional effort. Combined with the email addresses included in the same records, this creates ready-to-use login pairs. The homepage URLs add further context, potentially revealing which services or platforms each user frequented, making it easier for attackers to target follow-on accounts.

  • Plaintext Password
  • HomePage URL

Why This Matters

Credential stuffing is the most direct threat from a dump of this type. Attackers take email-and-password pairs and run them automatically against hundreds of popular services, including banking portals, email providers, and e-commerce sites. Because a large share of users reuse passwords across multiple accounts, even a single compromised set of credentials can cascade into several account takeovers. The inclusion of homepage URLs also gives attackers a roadmap of where to direct their efforts first. Beyond account takeover, valid email credentials can be used to intercept password-reset flows, effectively locking the original owner out of their accounts permanently.

How Database Breaches Work

A database breach occurs when an attacker gains unauthorized access to a data store and extracts its contents. In the context of stealer log compilations like this one, the records are typically harvested by malware installed on end-user devices. The malware captures credentials saved in browsers or entered during login sessions, then transmits them to attacker-controlled servers. Those harvested credentials are later compiled into logs and sold or freely distributed on underground forums such as BreachForums. The "ULP" format (URL, Login, Password) is a common structure for these compiled dumps, organizing records so they are immediately useful for automated credential stuffing tools.
