KATANA_CLOUD FREE Stealer Log Exposes 8,783 Accounts

HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file labeled "KATANA_CLOUD FREE" that a Telegram user uploaded on August 7, 2024. The file contained 8,783 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the login page it belongs to. Every one of those records represents a ready-to-use login sitting on a public channel.

Why This Is Dangerous

Because these passwords were stored in plaintext, there is no encryption for an attacker to break through. Anyone who obtains this file can pair the email, password, and URL together and log straight into the account, with no cracking or guesswork required.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated login pages

Why This Matters

A dataset of 8,783 records is more than enough to fuel credential stuffing attacks, where automated tools test each stolen email and password pair against other popular sites. Any account where the password was reused faces the risk of account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is produced by infostealer malware that infects a device through a malicious download, cracked software, or a phishing link. Once active, it quietly collects saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data, then compiles everything into a single log file. These files are frequently shared or sold on Telegram channels shortly after collection, which is exactly how this dataset became public.
