HEROIC's DarkHive intelligence system discovered the Slurm Logs data breach, exposing 39,553 records on July 29, 2025. Distributed via Telegram as part of the sustained Slurm Logs summer campaign, this stealer log contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and login URLs captured from infostealer malware installed on U.S. user devices.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer log data is uniquely actionable because it captures credentials in real time at the moment of use. Every record contains a proven, working email-password pair tied to a specific URL. Attackers who recieve this data can immediatly begin credential stuffing without any cracking or guessing. The 39,553 records from July 29 enable automated attacks against banking portals, email accounts, and corporate systems within hours. Thier tools can test thousands of pairs per minute, identifying valid logins rapidly.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Login URLs

Why This Matters

Account takeover and identity theft are the immediate risks when stealer log data circulates. Attackers test captured credentials across banking, social media, and ecommerce platforms simultaneously, exploiting password reuse to unlock multiple seperate accounts from a single capture. Financial fraud follows quickly once a banking login is confirmed valid. The July 29 release was part of a campaign that ran for months, meaning the affected users faced sustained exposure risk as thier credentials continued to circulate long after the initial Telegram post.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware spreads through phishing emails, malicious downloads, and compromised browser extensions. Once installed on a victim's device, it silently records every login submitted, capturing the email address, plaintext password, and destination URL. This data is exfiltrated to the operator's infrastructure and then released in batches through Telegram channels. The automated nature of the process means victims rarely know thier credentials have been compromised until they notice unauthorized account activity or run a breach scan.
