In February 2024, HEROIC discovered yet another stealer log from DVDCLOUDFree being freely distributed on Telegram. This release is the largest in the series, containing 13,993 records of stolen credentials. Every record includes an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL where the login was captured. The sheer volume of this release means thousands of individuals are at risk of having their accounts taken over without warning.

Your Password Is Sitting in a File Anyone Can Download

The 13,993 passwords in this dataset are completely unprotected. They exist in plaintext, readable by anyone who opens the file. There is nothing standing between your credentials and a criminal who wants to use them. If your password from this leak is still active on any account, an attacker can log in as you right now. They can read your emails, access your files, make purchases with your payment methods, and impersonate you to your contacts.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of websites and online services

The Password Reuse Trap That Catches Most People

Studies consistently show that over 60 percent of internet users reuse passwords across multiple services. Attackers exploit this habit through credential stuffing, testing each stolen email and password pair against dozens of platforms. With 13,993 credential pairs from this single DVDCLOUDFree release, the attack surface is enormous. Each reused password turns a single leak into a multi-account breach, potentially compromising email, banking, healthcare portals, and workplace systems all at once.

The DVDCLOUDFree Malware Pipeline

DVDCLOUDFree has established a pattern of distributing stealer logs in frequent batches on Telegram. The operation relies on infostealer malware distributed through deceptive channels, including phishing emails disguised as invoices or shipping notifications, fake software cracks, and compromised advertising networks. The malware silently captures credentials from infected devices and transmits them to attacker-controlled servers, where they are compiled into the structured log files that appear on Telegram. This 13,993-record release represents data from potentially hundreds of individual victims.
