If You Have a Stake Account, the STAKE_LOGS Leak Should Worry You
In April 2024, a Telegram user uploaded a file named STAKE_LOGS. The name is not coincidental -- this dataset was specifically harvested from users of Stake, the online gambling and crypto betting platform. Inside were 4,842 records: email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the services each credential was used on. If you have ever logged into Stake from a device that was later infected with infostealer malware, your account credentials may be in this dataset. Why This Is Dangerous
Online gambling platforms are a high-value target for credential theft because the accounts contain real money. A compromised Stake account gives an attacker immediate access to any crypto or fiat balance held on the platform, along with withdrawal methods and linked payment accounts. The STAKE_LOGS dataset exposes plaintext passwords -- not hashed, not encrypted, just the raw passwords users typed.
