The stake_logs Telegram Stealer Log Means Someone Could Be Logging Into Your Accounts
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file called "stake_logs" uploaded to a Telegram channel on November 5, 2023. The file contained 3,718 records gathered from infected computers, each record holding an email address, a plaintext password, and one or more URLs tied to websites the infected device had visited. The data was not stolen from a company database -- it was pulled directly off individual machines by malware running in the background without the victim's knowledge.
Why This Is Dangerous
With plaintext passwords in hand, an attacker does not need to do any guessing. They already have the exact password you typed. They can take your email and password and try them on your bank, your email account, your streaming services, and anywhere else you might reuse that same credential. This type of attack is fast and automated -- hundreds of sites can be tested in minutes.
