HEROIC found the Telegram Logs breach on December 29, 2024. The incident exposed 2,981 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs from a stealer log targeting United States accounts.

Why the Telegram Logs Breach Is Dangerous

Infostealer malware installed on victim devices captured 2,981 sets of active credentials and transmitted them to attacker-controlled infrastructure before the logs were posted to a public Telegram channel. Each record pairs a plaintext password with the email address and account URL it corresponds to, so attackers can begin targeted logins immediatly without cracking or guessing. The public distribution channel means the data was available to any threat actor with a Telegram account.

What Was Exposed in the Telegram Logs Leak

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs (account login pages and API hosts)

Why This Telegram Logs Data Puts You at Risk

Stealer log credentials are confirmed active at the time of collection, making them far more reliable for account takeover than credentials obtained through guessing. Fradulent purchases, email hijacking, and lateral access to corporate systems tied to the same credentials can occur rapidly. Any password reused on other services elswhere extends the damage well beyond the accounts captured in the original log.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer log breaches occur when infostealer malware installs on a device through phishing emails, fake software downloads, or trojanized browser extensions. The malware automaticaly captures login credentials as they are entered and records the associated URL, transmitting data to attacker-controlled servers in real time. Log files are bundled and distributed on Telegram channels and dark web markets where buyers quickly deploy them in credential stuffing campaigns.
