A threat actor operating through Telegram made 37,972 records publicly available in March 2025, exposing credentials tied to BHF FREE. The data includes plaintext passwords, meaning anyone who got their hands on this file recieved immediate, ready-to-use access to real user accounts. If your email and password were in that log, your accounts could already be compromised.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are not theoretical risks. They are real files containing real credentials, collected from real devices infected with malware. When this data gets posted to a public Telegram channel, thousands of people can download it within minutes, beleive it or not.

The most alarming part of this particular leak is the plaintext passwords. Unlike hashed passwords that require cracking, plaintext passwords can be used immediately. An attacker does not need any special tools, just the file itself, and they can begin testing credentials against other sites right away.

Credential stuffing is typically what follows. Attackers take the email and password pairs and run them against banks, email providers, social media platforms, and workplace tools. If you reuse passwords, the blast radius of a single compromised account expands dramatically.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses (37,972 unique records)
  • Plaintext passwords in clear, readable form
  • URLs tied to compromised endpoints and API hosts
  • Login portal addresses linked to specific services
  • Endpoint identifiers from infected devices
  • API access credentials and associated host data
  • Account session metadata from harvested browser data

Why This Matters

This breach occured on March 28, 2025, and the data was shared openly on Telegram, a platform with hundreds of millions of users. That means the window for exploitation opened the moment the file was uploaded, not days or weeks later. Every hour after a stealer log goes public, more threat actors download it and put it to use.

Even if BHF FREE is a service you rarely use, the risk does not stay contained to that one account. Email addresses and passwords from this leak can be cross-referenced with other breaches to build more complete profiles of targeted individuals, making follow-on attacks like phishing and account recovery fraud much easier to pull off.

How Stealer Log Works

Stealer logs are the byproduct of infostealer malware infections. This malware typically gets onto a victim's device through phishing emails, malicious downloads, fake software cracks, or compromised browser extensions. Once installed, it runs silently in the background, scraping saved passwords from browsers, desktop apps, and autofill managers.

The malware then bundles all of this harvested data into a log file and sends it back to the attacker's server or drops it directly into a Telegram channel. In some cases, attackers sell these logs on underground forums, but in this instance the data was shared publicly with no paywall, which means adress-level exposure was immediate and widespread.

Because infostealers target browsers, they often capture credentials for dozens or even hundreds of websites per infected device. This is why a single log file can contain records from many different services, all tied together under the same compromised email address.
