What HEROIC Analysts Found in the Texture Cloud FREE Stealer Log

In July 2023, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file uploaded to a Telegram channel by an anonymous user. The file, labeled "Texture Cloud FREE," contained 3,817 records harvested from compromised endpoints. Each record included an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the website or service where the credential was captured. The word "FREE" in the file name confirms this was distributed at no cost -- a tactic stealer operators use to build audiences and attract potential buyers for premium tiers.

Every record in this dataset came from a real person whose computer was infected with infostealer malware. The credentials were collected silently and then compiled and published on Telegram for anyone to download.

The Texture Cloud FREE Data Was Stolen in 2023. The Passwords Are Likely Still Active.

The Texture Cloud FREE log was uploaded in July 2023 -- nearly two years ago. Research consistently shows that most people whose credentials are exposed in stealer logs never find out, and never change the affected passwords. That means a significant portion of the 3,817 email and password pairs in this file are probably still valid today.

An attacker who downloads this file can test credentials that are almost two years old and still find working accounts. The window for attacks against this dataset has not closed -- it remains open indefinitly until affected users take action. Unlike a corporate breach that generates news coverage, stealer logs circulate quietly and victims rarely recieve any notification.

What Was Exposed in the Texture Cloud FREE Log

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (the exact websites and services where the malware captured each credential)

Why the Texture Cloud FREE Log Enables Ongoing Account Takeover

Plaintext passwords require no preparation before an attack can begin. A criminal who has this file can start testing credentials immediately -- cycling through all 3,817 email and password combinations against major platforms. Email providers, banking sites, e-commerce platforms, and social networks are all tested automatically.

The URL data in this log sharpens those attacks. When a record shows a banking URL, the attacker targets the bank first. When it shows an email service, the inbox becomes the entry point -- and from there, the attacker can reset passwords on every other account the victim owns. Account takeover cascades into identity theft and financial fraud. For victims who have been in this file since July 2023 without changing their passwords, the risk is substantiel and ongoing.

How the Texture Cloud Stealer Operation Harvests and Distributes Credentials

Texture Cloud is a cloud-based infostealer operation. Malware distributed by this group infected victims' computers through phishing emails, pirated software, and malicious browser extensions. Once active on a victim's device, the malware extracted all saved browser passwords, harvested session cookies, and logged credentials entered into login forms.

The "cloud" component refers to backend infrastructure that received the stolen data in real time. The operator compiled incoming records into batches and distributed them via Telegram. The "FREE" batch was a no-cost release intended to demonstrate quality and attract buyers. Once posted on Telegram, the file spread immediatly and continues to circulate across underground networks.
