HEROIC analysts uncovered a stealer log tied to the Togolese endpoint TG196.169.21.176, uploaded to a public Telegram channel on March 10, 2025. The file exposed 261 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs pulled directly from compromised devices. The moment that file was shared on Telegram, every credential inside it became fair game for anyone who downloaded it.

Why This Is Dangerous

With 261 sets of ready-to-use email and password pairs, an attacker does not need any special skills to cause real damage. Every URL in the log points to a site or service the victom was actively using at the time of infection. That means attackers know exactly where to try these credentials first, making account takeovers fast and targeted.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (login pages and API endpoints)

Why This Matters

Once credentials from a stealer log are used in a credential stuffing attack, the consequences can escalate quickly. An attacker who gains access to a single account may find payment methods saved on file, personal messages containing sensitive information, or the ability to reset passwords on linked accounts. This chain of compromise can lead to identity theft, finantial fraud, and ongoing account takeover -- often without the victim realizing anything is wrong until significant damage has been done.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware is designed to run silently in the background after infecting a device through a malicous download, fake software crack, or phishing email. Once active, it extracts saved browser passwords, cookies, and form autofill data. Everything is packaged into a log file and sent to the attacker automatically. The infected machines IP address -- here, TG196.169.21.176 -- tags the log file, allowing researchers to trace it back to its point of origin in Togo. These logs then get posted or sold on Telegram within hours of collection.
