HEROIC analysts confirmed a stealer log breach in November 2023 when a Telegram user uploaded a collection labeled "TOR_LOG MIX 229pcs" to a public channel. The bundle contained 229 individual log files compiled from infected endpoints, exposing 5,706 total records. Each record includes an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of a service the victim was accessing at the time their device was compromised. The data was made availble through both Telegram and TOR-accessible channels, meaning it reached a broad audience of threat actors with little friction or cost.

Why This Is Dangerous

The combination of plaintext passwords and specific service URLs is particularly damaging. Attackers do not just get a username and password -- they get a direct map to where those credentials work. If a victim was logged into their bank, email, or a work application when the malware ran, that URL is in the log alongside their login details. This eliminates guesswork for the attacker and allows them to move directly to the most valuable accounts. The TOR distribution channel also means this data was accessable to more experienced and organized threat actors, not just casual opportunists.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (sites and services accessed by the victim at time of infection)

Why This Matters

With 5,706 records and plaintext passwords, this log is a ready-made toolkit for credential stuffing and account takeover attacks. Attackers can automate login attempts across hundreds of platforms using the exact credentials from this file. Victims who reuse passwords accross multiple services face the highest risk -- one exposed record can compromise a chain of accounts including email, banking, and social media. Beyond immediate account access, exposed emails are harvested for targeted phishing campaigns, and verified working logins are sold on dark web markets. Identity theft and financial fraud are direct downstream consequences for anyone whose data appeared in this collection.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

A stealer log collection like TOR_LOG MIX is assembled from dozens or hundreds of individual infostealer infections. Each infection starts when malware lands on a victim's device -- typically through a phishing email, a fake software installer, or a malicious browser extension. The malware silently monitors the device, capturing every login credential the user types or autofills, along with the URL of the site they are visiting. These individual logs are then collected by the attacker, bundled into packages of hundreds of files, and distributed through channels like Telegram or published on TOR-based dark web forums. The TOR_LOG MIX name indicates this collection was a mixed bundle sourced from multiple infostealer campaigns rather than a single breach.

Check If You Are Affected

If your email address appears in the TOR_LOG MIX collection, your password and the sites you were visiting may already be in the hands of dark web threat actors. HEROIC's free dark web scanner searches across more than 400 billion exposed records -- including stealer logs, combined dumps, and breach databases -- to tell you what was leaked and from which source. Run a free scan now to find out if your data was included in this or any seperate breach, and change your passwords before an attacker uses them first.
