Trident_Cloud_2 Stealer Log Exposes 2,299 US Emails and Passwords
Trident_Cloud_2 Stealer Log Exposes 2,299 Records
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log dataset tied to Trident_Cloud_2 that was uploaded by a Telegram user on September 25, 2024. The file contained 2,299 records, including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the services those credentials unlock. Because this data comes from a stealer log rather than a company database, it was pulled directly from infected devices as people logged into their accounts.
Why This Is Dangerous
The passwords in this leak are stored in plaintext, meaning anyone who gets the file can use the credentials immediately, with no cracking required. An attacker can pair each email with its password and its matching URL, then try that same combination on other popular sites. If any of the 2,299 people in this dataset reused a password elsewhere, that other account is exposed too.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the associated login pages
Why This Matters
Data like this is the raw material for credential stuffing attacks, where stolen email and password pairs are tested automatically against banking sites, email providers, and online retailers. For the people caught up in this leak, that translates into a real risk of account takeover and, where financial or personal accounts are involved, identity theft or fraud.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is generated by malware that infects a device and silently copies saved passwords, browser autofill data, and active login sessions before sending it all back to the attacker. The Trident_Cloud_2 file fits this pattern: email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs, packaged together and shared through Telegram, a channel commonly used to distribute stolen credential data.
