HEROIC analysts identified the Trident_Cloud1 stealer log on May 25, 2024, after it was uploaded to a public Telegram channel by an anonymous user. The file held 22,332 records scraped from compromised endpoints, each containing an email address, a plaintext password, and an associated URL. The data came from infected machines, not from a single hacked company, which means the victims spaned many different organizations and services all at once.

Why This Is Dangerous

Right now, someone could be trying your email address and password on every major site they can think of. Stealer logs give attackers working credentials in plain text, no guessing required. The URLs included in this dump tell them exactly which services you were logged into, making the attacks targeted rather than random. Within hours of a log going public, automated tools begin cycling through the credentials at scale.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • API Host URLs

Why This Matters

Credential stuffing attacks powered by dumps like Trident_Cloud1 are responsible for millions of account takeovers every year. When attackers successfully log in, they can drain bank accounts, lock you out of your own email, impersonate you to scam friends and colegues, and sell access to your accounts on underground markets. Identity theft originating from a single leaked password can take years to fully resolve. The plaintext nature of the passwords in this log removes every barrier between the attacker and your accounts.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer logs are created by a type of malware called an infostealer. The malware usually arrives through cracked software, fake game mods, phishing emails, or malicious browser extensions. Once installed, it silently copies every saved password from your browsers and apps, records which websites you visit and log into, then packages everything into a tidy log file. That file gets sent back to the attacker, who either sells it, shares it on Telegram, or uses it himself. The whole process can happen in under a minute on an infected machene, and you likely never notice anything wrong.
