Our Analysts Found the TURTLE_CLOUD Dump on a Telegram Channel
HEROIC analysts found a stealer log dataset labeled "TURTLE_CLOUD" circulating on a public Telegram channel, tied to a leak date of December 24, 2024. Our team confirmed the file contains 21,144 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the account it was used on. The dataset was flagged during routine monitoring of channels where threat actors regularly share stolen credential logs.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because this data was harvested directly from infected computers rather than pulled from a company database, the passwords sit in plaintext with nothing to slow an attacker down. Once our analysts confirmed the contents, it became clear that every one of the 21,144 credentials was ready to use immediately, against the site it was captured from or any other account where the same password might apply.
What Was Exposed in the TURTLE_CLOUD Leak
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the accounts and services accessed
Why This Matters
A file of 21,144 working login pairs gives attackers exactly what they need to run credential stuffing attacks at scale, testing each combination against email providers, banks, and online retailers within seconds. Anyone who reused a password appearing in this leak is at risk of account takeover, which can quickly lead to identity theft and financial fraud once an attacker gains control of a victim's primary email account.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is the output of information-stealing malware that infects a device through a malicious download, a cracked application, or a phishing link, then quietly copies every password saved in the browser along with the site each one belongs to. Once the malware operator collects enough data, they package it into a log file and post it, as our analysts observed here, to a Telegram channel where anyone can download it.
