In July 2023, HEROIC analysts discovered a massive stealer log file, labeled "URL.LOGIN.PASS," circulating on a Telegram channel. The file contained 847,747 records pulled directly from infected computers, pairing email addresses with plaintext passwords and the exact web addresses where those logins were used.

Why This Is Dangerous

This is not a hashed password list that would take time to crack. These are the actual passwords, sitting in plain text, matched to the sites people used them on. Anyone who gets ahold of this file can log straight into accounts without guessing a single character.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (the sites each login was used on)

Why This Matters

With nearly 850,000 sets of working credentials, this file is a goldmine for credential stuffing attacks. Attackers automate the process of trying each email and password pair across banking sites, email providers, and online stores. Because so many people reuse passwords, a single leaked login can quietly unlock several accounts, leading to account takeover, identity theft, and direct financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware typically arrives through a fake software crack, a pirated game, or a malicious attachment disguised as something harmless. Once it runs, it silently pulls saved passwords and autofill data straight from the browser and packages everything into a log. That log gets uploaded to marketplaces or Telegram channels, exactly like the one behind this leak, where it can be bought, sold, or given away for free.

Check If You Are Affected

With over 800,000 records involved, the odds of being caught up in this leak are higher than most people realize. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against a database of more than 400 billion compromised records, so you can find out in seconds and take action before someone else does.
