HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel on March 13, 2025, tied to a Vietnamese server endpoint identified as IP address 14.170.154.222. The log contained 2 records exposing plaintext credentials and associated URLs, a small but dangrous dataset that signals active infostealer malware activity originating from Vietnam. Even two exposed records carry real risk when they include raw, unencrypted passwords.

Why This Is Dangerous

An attacker who obtains plaintext passwords and email addresses can log into any service where those credentials are reused. They can also sell the credentials on dark web markets, attempt account takeover on banking or email platforms, and use the exposed API host URLs to probe internal or cloud-based services for further access. Vietnam-based server logs like this one frequently turn up in larger credential marketplaces within days of being posted.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (including API host endpoints)

Why This Matters

Plaintext passwords are the most immeditae form of credential exposure. Unlike hashed passwords that require cracking, these can be used instantly. Attackers routinely try stolen email and password combinations across hundreds of popular websites in a technique called credential stuffing. A single reused password can lead to account takeover, financial fraud, or identity theft affecting far more than the two original records suggest.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware secretly installs itself on a victims computer, often through a malicious download or phishing link. Once installed, it silently collects saved passwords, cookies, and browsing data, then bundles everything into a log file and sends it to the attacker. The attacker uploads these logs to platforms like Telegram where other criminals can buy or freely access them. The victim usually has no idea this happened until their accounts start getting compromised.
