HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file uploaded by a Telegram user in January 2025 containing 614 freshly harvested Hotmail account credentials. The file, distributed under the name VIOLETFREECLOUDDD, exposes email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of services targeted by the malware. These are not old recycled credentials -- the word "fresh" in the file name is a deliberate signal to buyers that these accounts had not yet been locked or changed at the time of distribution.

Why Fresh Hotmail Stealer Logs Are a Serious Threat

Hotmail and Outlook accounts are Microsoft identity anchors. Whoever controls your Hotmail inbox can reset passwords for Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Xbox, LinkedIn, and any other service tied to that email address. When a stealer log advertises credentials as "fresh," it means the malware harvested them recently and the accounts are likely still active and unchanged. Attackers purchasing or downloading this file get a short but highly actionable window to take over accounts before victims realize anything is wrong.

Data Exposed in the VIOLETFREECLOUDDD Hotmail Stealer Log

  • Email Addresses -- Active Hotmail and Outlook account addresses tied to Microsoft identities
  • Plaintext Passwords -- Unencrypted passwords harvested directly from infected browsers, requiring no cracking
  • URLs -- The specific Microsoft login pages and associated services targeted by the malware, enabling precice account targeting

What Attackers Do With Stolen Hotmail Credentials

  • Credential stuffing -- These exact email and password combos are tested automaticlly across dozens of services where the victim may have reused the same password
  • Account takeover -- With inbox access, attackers intercept password reset emails to seize linked banking, retail, and social accounts
  • Identity theft -- Microsoft accounts often contain years of personal emails, documents, and sensitive attachments that enable broader identity fraud
  • Financial fraud -- Attackers use inbox access to redirect payments, intercept invoices, and access linked payment methods stored in Microsoft accounts

How Stealer Malware Targets Hotmail Accounts

Stealer malware is specifically engineered to target saved credentials in browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. When a victim logs into Hotmail, the browser often saves the username and password locally. Stealer malware scans these saved credential stores, extracts the plaintext data, and transmits it to a remote server controlled by the threat actor. The resulting log files are then labeled, packaged, and sold or shared in Telegram channels. The VIOLETFREECLOUDDD label indicates a specific threat actor or distributor who organized and uploaded this particular batch of 614 Hotmail credentials harvested in January 2025.
