HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log linked to the infected endpoint VN42.118.26.171 that was uploaded to a public Telegram channel on March 10, 2025. The file contained 80 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and an API host URL. What caught our attention was the chained nature of the risk this log creates: the exposed credentials do not just threaten one account, they threaten every other account where that same password has ever been used, and the API host URLs point attackers directly at the next link in that chain.

Why This Is Dangerous

Each record in this stealer log is a key that can open multiple doors. Because most people reuse passwords, one exposed email and password combinaton can give an attacker access to email, cloud storage, banking, and work systems simultaneously. The API URLs included in the log identify the exact services targeted, so attackers do not need to test broadly. They can go straight to the most valuable endpoints and use the stolen credentials with precision. This is a chained attack where one breach triggers a cascade of further compromises.

Why This Matters

The 80 records from VN42.118.26.171 represent 80 potential chains of account takeover. Credential stuffing tools can cycle through all 80 pairs in seconds across dozens of services. Once an attacker is inside an email account, they can trigger password resets on every other service, locking out the legitimate owner and gaining full control. This pathway from stolen credential to identity theft and finanscial fraud is well-documented and happens constantly with data from logs exactly like this one.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware installs itself on a device through a phishing email, a malicious download, or a compromised browser extension. It then quietly collects every saved password, session cookie, and authentication token it can find. The collected data is sent to the attacker's infrastructure, formatted into a structured log file, and then shared or sold through Telegram channels and dark web marketplaces. The whole process requires no interaction from the victim after the initial infection and can be completted in under an hour.
