VoteSex.com.ar was a small Argentine adult content website. On March 1, 2012, the site suffered a database breach that exposed 3,783 user account records. Passwords were stored in vBulletin's hash format, and while the exact fields in the dump were not fully documented, account records from any adult-oriented site carry risks that go beyond a standard credential leak.

Why VoteSex.com.ar Breach Is Dangerous

Even a relativly small breach from an adult website creates real risks. Email addresses linked to adult platforms are specifically targeted for extortion campaigns, where attackers threaten to expose account activity to family members or employers. The vBulletin password format used on this site is crackable with modern tools. The breach occured over a decade ago, but the data has been circulating on dark web forums ever since, available to anyone who knows where to look.

What Was Exposed in the VoteSex.com.ar Leak

  • User Account Records (3,783 accounts)

Why This VoteSex.com.ar Data Puts You at Risk

If you registered on this site, your account details may be part of this dump. Attackers who collect records from adult platforms specifically use those associations to craft extortion messages or phishing attempts, leveraging the sensitive nature of the site as pressure. Credential reuse is also a risk: if the email and password from this account match credentials you use on other services, those accounts could be accessed by anyone who obtained this data.

How Database Breaches Work

In a database breach, an attacker gains unauthorized access to a site's backend and extracts user records in bulk. At VoteSex.com.ar, the breach occured when an attacker exploited a weakness in the site's software and pulled the account database. That data was then posted to dark web forums, where it continues to be redistributed. Attackers automaticaly test credentials from dumps like this against other platforms using credential stuffing tools, running thousands of login attempts per minute.
