HEROIC analysts uncovered the ZELENKA CLOUD FREE LOGS dataset, uploaded to Telegram in May 2023 and distributed as a free release to underground channels. The file exposed 2,937 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs captured from devices infected with credential-stealing malware. The "free logs" label is a deliberate tactic on Telegram, where threat actors share data at no cost to build a following and establish credibility in underground communities. Three years later, that data is still searchable, still downloadable, and still dangerous.

Why This Is Dangerous

When attackers label a dataset "free," they lower the barrier to entry as far as it will go. Anyone in that Telegram channel can download the file and immediately use every credential in it. The audience of potential attackers is far larger than a paid release would ever attract, and the data does not expire the moment the upload date passes.

The ZELENKA CLOUD reference connects this log to Zelenka.guru, also known as Lolzteam, a well-established Russian-language forum where hackers trade accounts, tools, and stolen data. Victims whose credentials appeared in this release may not recieve any warning, and their data may already be in the hands of dozens or hundreds of individuals who downloaded it in the hours after it was posted.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses: Full account identifiers tied to personal, professional, and financial services
  • Plaintext Passwords: Unencrypted passwords usable immediately with zero additional effort
  • URLs: The specific web addresses where credentials were entered and captured by the malware

Why This Matters

Every record in this dataset represents a real person whose login credentials are now freely available to anyone who downloaded the file. With plaintext passwords and matching URLs, attackers can attempt account takeovers on banking portals, email providers, corporate logins, and social media platforms without any guesswork.

Credential stuffing attacks use automated tools to test thousands of stolen username and password combinations across hundreds of sites simultaneously. Because many people reuse passwords across seperate services, a single compromised entry in this log can unlock multiple accounts. The downstream risks include financial fraud, identity theft, and unauthorised access to business systems if work credentials were captured. Three years of additional distribution means the dataset has spread far beyond its original Telegram channel.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware silently infects a device and extracts everything the browser has saved: stored passwords, autofill entries, session cookies, and the URLs of sites the user logged into. This data is compiled into a log file and sent back to the attacker's server.

Some actors then share these logs freely on platforms like Telegram and forums like Zelenka to gain reputation and attract followers. The "cloud" naming suggests the logs were staged or hosted for easy download. The infection itself likely occured weeks or months before the data was uploaded, meaning victims had no idea anything had gone wrong until long after their credentials were already circulating. By the time a free log like this goes public, the original attacker has already extracted maximum value from it.
