If You Reuse Passwords, the Zoomcar Leak of 3.5 Million Records Should Worry You
HEROIC analysts identified the Zoomcar breach while monitoring dark web marketplaces where stolen databases are bought and sold. The breach occured in July 2018 and exposed 3,588,582 records from the Indian self-drive car rental company. The stolen data included full names, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, and password hashes, making this one of the more detailed personal data exposures from that period. The database was later listed for sale in 2020, bringing renewed attention to the incident.
