The butterfly_logs 333count stealer dump was uploaded to Telegram in June 2025. That was nearly a year ago. The 641 records it contains -- email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the accounts they unlock -- have had twelve months to be downloaded, traded, and tested by anyone with access to the right Telegram channels. Stolen credential data does not expire the way people imagine. It circulates. And the clock on exploiting this particular dump has been ticking since the moment it was first uploaded.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords are the most immedietly dangerous type of leaked credential. Unlike hashed passwords that take time and computing power to crack, the passwords in the butterfly_logs dump require nothing further -- they are ready to be entered into login forms right now. Attackers do not use stolen credentials once and move on. They store them, bundle them with other leaks, and return to them whenever a new opportunity arises. A credential set from June 2025 may be attempted against a new data breach victim list in June 2026.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses -- the universal login identifier across most platforms
  • Plaintext Passwords -- no cracking required, ready to use immediately
  • URLs -- revealing exactly which sites and services each credential unlocks

Why This Matters

A year after the butterfly_logs dump went live, many of the 641 affected users likely still do not know their credentials were exposed. Stealer log breaches rarely generate public news coverage the way large corporate breaches do -- there is no company to issue a notification, no regulator to compel disclosure. The only way to know if you were affected is to check. Meanwhile, password reuse means these 641 credential pairs may unlock far more than the originaly targeted accounts -- email, cloud storage, banking, and workplace systems may all be vulnerable if the same password was used.

How Stealer Log Attacks Work

The butterfly_logs data was collected by stealer malware installed on victims' computers without their knowledge. This malware -- typically spread through phishing, fake software downloads, or malicious browser extensions -- captures credentials in real time as users type or auto-fill them. The 333 individual log files in this collection each represent a compromised device. Once compiled, the logs were uploaded by a Telegram user who either ran the infection campaign or purchased the resulting data from the original attacker. From there, the file became available to anyone willing to join the right channel.
