In July 2025, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log file under the handle CloudyTeamLogs that contained 11,124 exposed records harvested from infected devices. The dataset included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs tied to real user accounts. The moment that file hit Telegram, every credential in it became instantly usable by anyone who downloaded it. That is not a hypothetical risk. That is an active threat affecting real people right now.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are uniquely destructive because they bypass password hashing entirely. In a typical database breach, attackers still have to crack encrypted passwords before they can use them. With a stealer log, the malware captured credentials directly from the infected device, exactly as the user typed them. Every password in this file is immediately ready to deploy. Attackers who recieve a file like this can begin running credential stuffing attacks within minutes of download, testing logins across banking sites, email providers, and retail accounts simultaneously.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords (captured exactly as typed, no cracking required)
  • URLs (revealing which specific services each victim had saved credentials for)

Why This Matters

Plaintext passwords are the most dangerous category of leaked credential. There is no decryption step, no time buffer, and no technical barrier between the attacker and your accounts. When paired with the URLs also present in this dataset, attackers know not just your password but exactly which services to target. The risk multiplies for anyone who reuses passwords across seperate platforms, which studies consistently show affects the majority of internet users. One infected device can compromise every account that person has ever logged into.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware infects devices through phishing links, trojanized software downloads, or drive-by browser exploits. Once installed, it runs silently in the background, capturing keystrokes, saved browser credentials, session cookies, and autofill data. The collected data is bundled into a log file and exfiltrated to the attacker. Groups like Cloudy Logs Team then upload these bundles to Telegram channels where they are distributed freely, sometimes as a promotional sample for paid premium log access. By the time a log is uploaded, the infectionn had already occured weeks or months earlier on each affected device.
