HEROIC analysts found a dataset tied to Dukes Egypt circulating on underground forums in late June 2023. The exposure involved approximately 7,530 customer records pulled directly from what appears to be a dessert shop database. Our team recieved alerts about this data appearing on a public breach aggregation channel, where the dump was being shared freely among threat actors. The records contained a wide mix of personal identifiers that go well beyond a simple email list.

Why Exposed Birthday and Phone Data Is Partcularly Dangerous

With full names, birthdays, phone numbers, and email addresses in hand, an attacker can do a lot of damage fast. They can pass identity verification questions, spoof customer service calls, and build convincing phishing lures that reference your real personal details. Social engineering attacks built on this kind of profile data are incredibly hard to spot because they sound legitimate.

Why This Matters Even for a Small Breach

A breach of 7,530 records might sound small, but every single one of those people is now at elevated risk. Attackers use this data for targeted phishing, account takeover attempts across other platforms, and identity fraud. Birthday combined with full name and email is a classic combo used to reset passwords and bypass account recovery flows on major services.

How Database Breaches Work

Database breaches typically occured when an attacker finds an unpatched vulnerability, a misconfigured server, or a set of leaked admin credentials. Once inside, they can export the entire customer table in minutes. Small businesses in the food and retail sector are often targeted precisely because they tend to have less robust security tooling than larger enterprises, making them accessable entry points for attackers.
