Giving away stolen data for free is a marketing tactic, and that's exactly what happened with RezonCloud free, a stealer log posted to Telegram on October 5, 2023 carrying 2,551 records meant to build interest in the operator's larger, paid offerings.

Why This Is Dangerous

Free samples in this world work the same way they do anywhere else, they're meant to prove the product is real. That means the 2,551 credentials in this batch were definately functional at the time of the leak, since a sample full of dead passwords wouldn't convince anyone to come back for more.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses tied to real individual accounts
  • Plaintext passwords with absolutely no encryption
  • URLs revealing exactly which site each login belongs to

Why This Matters

It isn't neccessary for a leak to come with a price tag to be dangerous. Free stealer logs spread faster and wider than paid ones because more people are willing to download them, which means this RezonCloud batch may already be sitting on far more devices than the original operator ever intended.

How Free Samples Like This Get Made

Operators running paid stealer log services often release a small free batch to demonstrate their malware is actively harvesting fresh credentials. The underlying process is identical to any other infostealer campaign: infect a device, quietly copy saved browser passwords, and bundle the results for distribution.
