HEROIC analysts catalogued the TOR_LOG MIX dataset as a stealer log published to Telegram in September 2023. While 780 records is smaller than many stealer log collections, the data it contains is no less dangerous. Each record holds a real email address, a plaintext password, and the specific URL where that password was being used at the time of infection. That means every entry in this log is a ready-to-use credential set pointing directly at a real account on a real website.

Why Even 780 Stolen Credentials Are a Serious Threat

Scale matters less than content when it comes to stealer logs. A single plaintext password tied to an email and a URL is enough to compromise an account in seconds. Attackers who access this log do not need to do any additional work. They have the email, the password, and the target site. From there, account takeover is a matter of a few clicks.

Because this dataset has been circulating since 2023, it has had years to be incorporated into automated attack tools and shared across multiple threat actor communities. The individuals in this log face ongoing risk every day their passwords remain unchanged.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (identifying the specific sites targeted)

Why This Matters for Account Security

Credential stuffing attacks depend on exactly this type of data. Attackers take email and password pairs from leaked logs and test them against popular platforms automatically. If a person used the same password on their bank, their email provider, or their social media accounts, all of those profiles are now at risk. The consequences can include account lockouts, financial fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized access to private communications.

The TOR_LOG MIX name suggests this dataset may have been aggregated from multiple sources or stealer campaigns, which means the affected accounts could span a wide range of services and industries.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Information stealer malware is one of the most common tools used by cybercriminals today. These programs are desgined to blend into the background after infection, silently collecting every saved password from browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. They also capture active session cookies, which can allow attackers to bypass login screens entirely by impersonating a logged-in session.

Once the data is collected, it is automatically sent to the attacker and then bundled into a log file. These logs are sold, traded, and freely shared on dark web markets and Telegram channels. The TOR_LOG MIX collection is one such bundle, likely assembled from infections across a number of different devices and users.

Victims typically recieve no notification, and in many cases never find out their credentials were stolen untill they notice unauthorized activity on one of their accounts.
