HEROIC analysts identified a combolist titled "2K Comcast Giveaway" circulating on Telegram on March 15, 2026. The file contained 2,009 records pairing email addresses with plaintext passwords and web login URLs. Despite its name referencing a Comcast promotional giveaway, HEROIC found no evidence tying the data to an actual Comcast systems breach, the title appears to be the uploader's own label for the file. Why This Is Dangerous: Every credential in this file is stored in plaintext, meaning anyone who downloads it can read usernames and passwords immediately, no cracking or decryption required. An attacker can plug these pairs directly into login pages and see which ones still work. What Was Exposed: - Email addresses used as account usernames - Plaintext passwords tied to those emails - URLs showing which websites or services the credentials unlock Why This Matters: Most people reuse the same password across several accounts. If any of these 2,009 email and password combinations match a password you still use elsewhere, an attacker can attempt credential stuffing, automatically testing the same login across banking, email, and shopping sites until one succeeds. That can lead to account takeover, financial fraud, or a stolen identity. How a Combolist Like This Works: A combolist is a plain file of stolen or scraped login pairs, often assembled from older breaches, phishing pages, or malware logs, then repackaged and shared for free or sold cheaply on Telegram. Unlike a single company breach, a combolist can mix data from many unrelated sources, which is likely why this file references Comcast in its name without an actual link to Comcast's systems. Check If You Are Affected: You can check whether your email address appears in this leak or any of the other 400 billion-plus compromised records in HEROIC's database using HEROIC's free breach scanner. If you find a match, change that password immediately and anywhere else you have reused it.
