EXPERTLOGS DEFAULT Stealer Log Exposes 33,824 Records

HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file called "EXPERTLOGS DEFAULT" uploaded to a public Telegram channel on January 13, 2023. The file contained 33,824 records pulled from infected devices, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the account it unlocks.

Why This Is Dangerous

These passwords were stored in plaintext, so no cracking or decryption stands between an attacker and a working login. Each record already links an email address, a password, and a specific website, so an attacker can start logging into accounts the moment they open the file.

What Was Exposed

  • 33,824 individual records
  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated login pages

Why This Matters

Immediate account takeover is the biggest risk for anyone in this dataset, followed by credential stuffing on any other site where the same password was reused. Because so many people reuse passwords across email, banking, and shopping accounts, one exposed credential pair can quickly cascade into financial fraud and identity theft.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer logs come from malware that infects a device through pirated software, a fake installer, or a malicious attachment, then silently harvests saved passwords, autofill data, and session information from the browser. That data is shipped back to the attacker, who packages it, like this 33,824-record EXPERTLOGS DEFAULT file, and circulates it on Telegram channels and dark web marketplaces.
