On December 26, 2023, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log containing 7,107 records to a public channel, exposing the credentials of thousands of users who likely had no idea their devices had been compromised. The data included plaintext passwords alongside email addresses and associated URLs, which means anyone who downloaded that file had everything they needed to start breaking into accounts immediately. This kind of exposure doesn't make headlines, but the damage it causes is very real.
Why This Is Dangerous
When passwords are stored in plaintext, there's nothing standing between a bad actor and your accounts. No hash to crack, no time delay, no technical barrier whatsoever.
