A Fresh Hotmail Combolist Hits Webmail Users

In March 2026, HEROIC analysts identified a combolist labeled "882X FRESH HOTMAIL," uploaded to Telegram and containing 882 records of Hotmail email addresses paired with plaintext passwords and associated URLs. The "fresh" label signals the file was just assembled, meaning these webmail credentials haven't had much chance to go stale before attackers get their hands on them.

Why a Webmail-Focused Leak Is Dangerous

Webmail accounts like Hotmail sit at the center of most people's digital lives, since they're often the recovery address for banking, shopping, and social media logins. Because these 882 passwords are stored in plaintext, anyone who downloads this file can log directly into those inboxes and use them to reset passwords on other accounts tied to that same email.

What Was Exposed

  • Hotmail email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Associated URLs

Why This Matters

Webmail credentials are especially valuable to attackers running credential stuffing campaigns, since a single working Hotmail login can unlock a chain of other accounts through password reset links. That makes leaks like this one a direct path to account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud for the 882 people whose inboxes were exposed.

How Fresh Combolists Like This Get Made

A combolist marked "fresh" is typically pulled from recent phishing campaigns, newly infected devices, or a batch of credentials that hasn't been widely circulated yet, then bundled by username or email domain and shared on Telegram. Because webmail providers like Hotmail have such a large user base, sellers often package credentials by provider, as seen here, to appeal to buyers targeting that specific type of account.

Check If You Are Affected

If you use a Hotmail account, it's worth checking whether your email shows up in this or any other exposed dataset before an attacker gets there first. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches more than 400 billion leaked records, giving you a fast way to confirm your exposure and update any passwords you've reused elsewhere.
