HEROIC discovered a stealer log file labeled "UK Valid by Fire Cloud" that was distributed in August 2025. The dump contains 905 records specifically targeting users in the United Kingdom, with each record pairing an email address with its plaintext password and the URL of the service where the credential was stolen. Every one of these 905 passwords was dumped in fully readable form, requiring no decryption to exploit.

Why Plaintext Passwords Are the Worst Kind of Leak

When passwords are exposed in plaintext, the damage is immediate and total. There is no hash to crack, no salt to work around, and no time buffer before attackers can use them. Each of the 905 credentials in this dump can be copied directly into a login form. For the individuals affected, this is the most severe form of password exposure possible.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses — UK-based email accounts that identify users and serve as login credentials
  • Plaintext Passwords — unencrypted, human-readable passwords with zero protection
  • URLs — the exact web services and platforms where login credentials were intercepted

Credential Stuffing Amplifies the Damage

Even a focused set of 905 credentials becomes a potent weapon through credential stuffing. Attackers run these email-password combinations through automated systems that test them against banking websites, NHS accounts, government portals, online shopping platforms, and email services. Because UK users, like users everywhere, frequently reuse passwords across services, one compromised credential can lead to unauthorized access across multiple platforms.

The Infostealer Malware Behind This Leak

This breach was caused by infostealer malware — a category of malicious software designed to silently harvest credentials from infected devices. The malware extracts saved passwords from web browsers, captures active sessions, and collects autofill data. It then packages these stolen credentials into organized log files sorted by region. The "UK Valid" label indicates these credentials were specifically filtered and validated for UK-based accounts before distribution.
