Picture This: One Password From an AE-Tagged Stealer Log Gets Used

On 18 June 2026, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log uploaded to a Telegram channel and tagged "AE," containing one exposed record: an email address, a plaintext password, and the login URL where it was used. Imagine a criminal opening that file, copying the email and password into a login form, and getting in on the first try. That is the scenario this single record makes possible.

Why That Scenario Is Realistic, Not Rare

Because the password was captured in plaintext directly from an infected device, there is no encryption to break through. An attacker does not need to guess or crack anything, they simply try the exact credential that was stolen, and if it still works, they are in.

What Was Exposed

  • Email address
  • Plaintext password
  • Login URL tied to the credential

Where That Scenario Leads Next

Once inside one account, an attacker typically checks whether the same password unlocks the victim's email, banking, or shopping accounts, a tactic known as credential stuffing. From there, the path runs straight toward account takeover, and in more serious cases, identity theft or financial fraud.

How a Single Credential Ends Up in a Stealer Log

Infostealer malware infects a device through a pirated program, cracked software, or malicious attachment, then silently copies every saved password, cookie, and autofill entry from the browser. Criminals label these harvested files by batch or region, in this case "AE," before sharing or selling them on Telegram.

Check If You Are Affected

Do not let that scenario play out with your own credentials. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against more than 400 billion breached and leaked records, including stealer logs like this one, so you can find out now instead of after the fact.
