HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file shared on a public Telegram channel on May 25, 2025. The file, labeled BabaCloudLogs 250 Cloud Logs 25.05.2025 1, contained 13,512 records harvested from infected endpoints. Each record paired an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the service where that credential was captured, giving anyone who downloaded the file a ready-made list of working logins.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords require zero effort to use. Unlike hashed passwords that attackers must crack, the passwords in this file work as-is. An attacker can copy an email and password from this log and try it on Gmail, Microsoft 365, banking sites, or corporate VPNs right away. Because cloud services and API endpoints are specifically represented in the URLs, this leak poses a direct risk to business accounts and the infrastructure connected to them.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (login pages and API host addresses where credentials were stolen)

Why This Matters

When credentials like these hit the open internet, the consiquences multiply quickly. Credential stuffing bots can test each stolen email and password pair against thousands of websites in a matter of hours. If the same password was reused anywhere, every account using it becomes vulnerable. Victims of leaks like this one routinely face unauthorized account access, fraudulent transactions, identity theft, and in business settings, full network compromise.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is a file produced by infostealer malware. The malware typically arrives through a phishing link, a cracked software download, or a malicious browser extension. Once installed, it runs silently in the background and harvests passwords saved in your browser, login session cookies, and any credentials you type. It then bundles everything into a structured log file and sends it to the attacker. The attacker may use the data themselves or post it publicly, as happened here with BabaCloudLogs 250 on May 25, 2025. Understanding this process helps explain why simply changing your password after infection may not be enough if session cookies were also stolen.
