Bugatti_Cloud Part031 Stealer Log Breach Overview

In April 2023, HEROIC's threat intelligence team identified yet another installment in the Bugatti_Cloud stealer log series shared on Telegram. The file, labeled Bugatti_Man 18.04.part031, contained 10,401 compromised records extracted from malware-infected devices. The exposed data includes email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs where each credential was used. This part represents one of the larger segments in the Bugatti_Cloud series, significantly expanding the total number of affected individuals.

Why This Is Dangerous

Every record in this stealer log is an actionable credential pair. The passwords are not hashed, salted, or encrypted in any way. They are stored exactly as the victim entered them. Paired with the corresponding URLs, attackers have a complete package for immediate account access. With 10,401 records, this single dump could compromise tens of thousands of online accounts when password reuse is factored in. Criminals who obtain this data can execute automated attacks against banking platforms, email services, corporate VPNs, and virtually any website requiring authentication. The email addresses also serve as identifyers for building targeted phishing and social engineering campaigns.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (specific websites and login pages)

Why This Matters

The combination of plaintext passwords and matching URLs eliminates nearly every barrier between an attacker and their victim's accounts. Credential stuffing tools can process thousands of login attempts per minute, testing each stolen pair against popular services automatically. Victims face immediate risks including account takeover, unauthorized financial transactions, identity theft, and corporate data breaches if workplace credentials were stored in their browser. The cascading effects of password reuse mean that a single record in this dump could unlock access to a victim's entire digital life. Even accounts protected by security questions become vulnerble when attackers have access to a victim's primary email.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware operates silently on infected devices, targeting the credential stores built into popular web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera. When a user saves a password in their browser, the malware can extract it along with the associated URL and username. Beyond browser passwords, many infostealers also capture cookies, session tokens, cryptocurrency wallet data, and autofill information. The harvested data is organized into log files and transmitted to command-and-control infrastructure. From there, threat actors package and distribute the logs through Telegram channels and dark web forums. The Bugatti_Cloud series appears to be one such organized distribution effort, with multiple numbered parts released sequentialy.
