HEROIC analysts uncovered a combolist titled "COMBOLIS 1.1M EDU MIX FRESH 100" shared on a Telegram channel on 04-Apr-2026. The file contains 848,739 records, mixing email addresses and plaintext passwords with the URLs of the education-related sites where those logins were captured. The "EDU MIX" label suggests the list was compiled specifically to target school and university accounts.

Why This Is Dangerous

Because the passwords sit in plaintext, no cracking is needed, the credential is readable the moment the file opens. Combined with the site URL each login worked on, an attacker can go straight to that education portal and log in as if they were the real account holder. Student and staff accounts often connect to email, financial aid, payment systems, and other school services, so one working password can open several doors at once.

What Was Exposed in the COMBOLIS 1.1M EDU MIX File

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the sites where the credentials were used

Why This Matters for Students and Staff

Education accounts are a favorite target because a single login can connect to email, learning portals, financial aid systems, and campus payment tools. A list of 848,739 email and password pairs gives attackers plenty of material to run through credential stuffing tools, testing the same combination across multiple sites until one works. When it does, the result is account takeover, and from there identity theft or financial fraud can follow quickly, especially if the account is linked to tuition payments or personal records.

How a Combolist Like This Gets Made

A combolist is built by pulling email and password combinations from multiple sources, malware infections, phishing pages, or older breaches, and grouping them by theme, in this case education related accounts. Calling a list "fresh" signals to buyers that it was assembled recently and has not yet been checked against known compromised password databases, meaning a larger share of the logins are likely to still be active.
