In February 2024, HEROIC analysts traced a fresh stealer log dump back to a Telegram channel, this one labeled CRYPTON_LOGS 2.0 402PCS. The file contained 6,051 records pulled from infected devices, each one pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the exact web address that login belonged to.

How This Data Ended Up For Sale on Telegram

This leak did not start with a company database getting broken into. It started much smaller and much closer to home, on an individual person's own computer. Somewhere along the line, a piece of information-stealing malware slipped past their defences, likely disguised as a game cheat, a cracked app, or a fake software update.

Once installed, the malware combed through the victim's browser, pulled every saved password, and packaged the results into a log file. That file, along with thousands like it, eventually landed in a Telegram channel where it was bundled, labeled, and offered up for anyone willing to grab it.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Associated login URLs

Why This Is Dangerous

Because the passwords sit in plaintext, there is no encryption to break and no guesswork involved. Anyone who downloads this file can immediately try each email and password pair on other websites. If a victim reused that password anywhere else, the attacker walks right in.

Why This Matters Beyond One Leaked File

This is exactly how credential stuffing campaigns get their fuel. Attackers automate the process, testing thousands of stolen logins against banking sites, retailers, and email providers within minutes. A successful match can lead straight to account takeover, and from there, identity theft or financial fraud becomes a very real next step.
