In July 2026, HEROIC analysts came across a small stealer log labeled "DE" shared on a Telegram channel. Though the file only contained 2 records, each one paired a full email address, a plaintext password, and the URL where that password was used, information pulled directly from an infected device rather than a company breach.

Why This Is Dangerous

A leak this size might look insignificant, but for the two people involved it is not. Both records include a ready-to-use email, password, and login URL, so anyone who finds the file can sign in immediately, with no cracking or password guessing required.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses belonging to the affected accounts
  • Plaintext passwords with no encryption applied
  • The login URL tied to each password

Why This Matters

Even a two-record leak carries real risk for the people in it. If either password was reused anywhere else, attackers can use it to attempt credential stuffing against email, banking, or shopping accounts, potentially leading to account takeover well beyond the original infected device.

How the DE Stealer Log Works

Stealer malware works by quietly reading the passwords a browser has saved, along with the website each one belongs to, then sending that data to whoever controls the malware. Small batches like this "DE" file are often carved out of larger logs and shared or sold individually on Telegram, which explains why it contains just a couple of records instead of thousands.

Check If You Are Affected

Whether a leak involves two records or two million, the only way to know if you're one of them is to check. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches more than 400 billion leaked records, including small stealer log batches like this one, so you can quickly confirm whether your email or password needs to change.
